As I march towards my goals of paying off all consumer debt and saving up emergency and retirement funds, I am navigating that fine line between sacrifice and self-indulgence. I've said no to several non-essential items this new year (no new Toms flats or breezy sundresses for this girl). But despite my noble efforts, food/dining out still drains a nice chunk of cash from my bank account each month. In this past week alone, I've indulged in H-E-B grocery store sushi AND an impromptu co-worker happy hour at Chuy's.
I simply adore food and one of the things I love most about Austin is the rich abundance of unique, local eateries. But dining out has been a budgeting blindspot for long enough, and I need to find a way to satiate my guilty pleasure for less. As for next week...I may be eating PB&J sandwiches for lunch.
Your Turn: What budgeting blindspots do you have? How do you save for the future and pay down debt while still spending on the things you love? Do you have any restaurant-quality recipes for home cooking?

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my little blog! I'm Senorita B, a native Midwesterner who currently teaches first grade in Austin, TX.
In a nutshell: I come from a small rural town and have lived in Austin for nearly three years. I love the laid-back vibe that this city has to offer. I have a little talent for languages and have leaned to speak Spanish fluently. Next: mastering Portuguese. Other passions include: education, personal finance, writing, domestic and international travel,Latin culture, spending time with my cat and my adorable boyfriend C, and exploring (whether it be a new place, style of music, food or genre of literature).
I decided to start this blog mainly to chart my progress towards paying off consumer debt and achieving greater financial stability. However, I may frequently muse about life, love, travel and things to do in my amazing city.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll tune in for more!
